Short answer? No. The safety of injectables during these times has not been established - and nor can it be, because it is not ethical to test on this group. There are other options for skin health during pregnancy and these include facials without vitamin A, benzoyl peroxide, or salicylic acid, and micro needling without the use of topical anaesthetic.

It is not possible to state exactly how long the effects of your treatment will last. There are many individual factors that contribute to the longevity of treatment, and these include: the dose, the area treated, and your individual metabolism. That said, the usual time for a frown to return to full movement is 3-4 months. What is important to recognise is that your treatment will not wear off suddenly: it fades over time as the active ingredient is broken down and fresh nerve endings appear. Once this happens, you will not suddenly have more lines, you will return to your pre-treatment baseline.

You may notice incremental changes from day 3 of your treatment, depending on what product your injector has used. The "full-effect" of your treatment cannot be evaluated until week 2. This is when the treatment is at maximum effectiveness and when it is appropriate to review your treatment with your injector. Perhaps more product is required? This is a normal response, especially when your injector has chosen to use a lighter dose to avoid unwanted heaviness, especially at the forehead. Booking for a review with your injector is a great way to see how the treatment has worked for you, and enables us to modify your injection pattern and dose in the future to ensure great results that are tailored to your unique anatomy.

Antiwrinkle or "tox" is not appropriate for all of our facial lines. For instance, we should not alter the width of our smile with antiwrinkle: the nasolabial fold area is off-limits for antiwrinkle. Trying to decrease these lines with antiwrinkle will yield a highly unnatural result! The most common areas for injection are: frown, forehead, crow's feet, and platysma (neck bands). These are all areas that have been clinically approved for use. If you have a question about other areas of the face, ask your injector in-person, and they can give you some advice. And, while some areas cannot be treated with antiwrinkle, your injector may recommend that dermal filler is a good option for you.​
